CIPFA - Performance in Public Services: Property
Asset Management Planning
The AMP Network is operated in partnership with the Federation of Property Societies (FPS) and as such we have access to an extensive knowledge base that will enable your Service to learn from good practice elsewhere.
The AMP Network has now been running for twelve years and over this time we have built up a network of contacts throughout central and local government. Indeed we have become the first port of call for the majority of Local Authorities including Fire & Rescue and Police Services in the UK seeking information and advice on Asset Management and Capital Investment Strategies.
Our membership of over 280 Authorities throughout the UK, demonstrates the value and relevance of the Network and the continuing importance of Asset Management across Local Government and the rest of the Public Sector.
The coming 12 months are certainly going to be challenging as the Government seeks to relieve the pressure on the public sector debt thorugh a range of austerity measures and planned efficiency savings. Public sector cuts are likely to be harsh and long-lived. This is going to demand that many Authorities re-evaluate their service delivery modules in order to maintain services at a tine of constrained budgets.
The AMP Network is in a unique position to support you in;
- Delivering and demonstrating efficiency savings
- Rationalising your asset base to meet budgetary pressures
- Aligning your asset base to new service delivery models
- Helping deliver the shared service agenda
- Accessing essential support, guidance and expertise at a time of cuts in skilled property staff
- Demonstrating Value for Money in the use of Property and Capital Resources
- Delivering continuous improvement, and,
- Sharing good practice
Membership of the AMP Network will be essential in moving forward by helping to provide a 'road map' to real Asset Management and real service improvement. It is clear that the use and management of assets will continue to play an important part for some time to come and will directly affect your Authority's organisational and financial performance.
